Whacking Day is DCU's annual one-day beginners tournament that gives new university players a chance to compete in a fun tournie. It has both a mens and womens division and is reknowned for having a big party and a relaxed, well-organised atmosphere.

As the new ultimate season approaches, it's almost time for that momentous annual occasion that is.... The Whacking Day Beginners Ultimate Tournament. As usual this one-day indoor beginners tournament will take place in DCU (Dublin City University), this year on Saturday, November 4th. We are also looking at the possibility of a Sunday outdoor hat tournament for those of you who arent satisfied with just one days play.

The details are as follows:

2 Divisions, 16 Open Teams and 8 Ladies teams
18 min games
€50 team fee, €40 for 2nd team *
Accomodation provided from DCU players if required (Preference given to non Dublin teams obviously)
Friday night Welcome Party (venue TBC)
Saturday Night After Party in Doyles Pub (fancy dress theme TBC)
Sign up for the Sunday Hat tournament will take place on the Saturday.
* (2nd teams may be limited, See below)

Just a few notes. With the Irish ultimate scene expanding, preferance will be given to new school/uni teams over established clubs looking to enter a 2nd team. As such there will be two deadlines for registering, the first being for first teams, after which uni's may register a 2nd team(in the same division). The demand for places in the tournament is expected to be high with new teams on the scene, so I'd advise REGISTER EARLY.

1st Deadline : Sun Oct 21st - 1st team registration and payment

2nd Deadline : Sun Oct 28th - 2nd team registration and payment
